Jirásek rocks (Bischofstein)

The best way to Bischofstein is from the train stop Dědov. When you follow the red touristic mark, you will pass Dědov and Javor villages heading towards Teplice rocks passing by the romantic wooden houses. On the foot of Teplice rocks lies a village named Skály with baroque castle of the same name that was built in 1666 over the former fort. It served as a summer place for castle´s bishops, today it offers an accomodation. In totally forgotten village you will be surprised not only by the castle, but also ruins of stony castle Bischofstein. Torso of the stony castle from 14th century offers very nice view of the surrounding countryside. The village, ruins of the castle and baroque castle were a venue for Alois Jirásek´s novels Skály and Skaláci and we can find them even in other his books. From Skály village the path continues on the green touristic mark towards the Čáp hill that is 786 metres above the sea level high and is heading towards the stone town.

NÁCHOD Castle

Náchod is a very pleasant town in Broumov bulge. Actually it is the largest town in the region and it is dominated by nice rennaisance castle with bears vivarium and a gallery. Bear couple Ludvík and Dáša are the castle´s attraction and they often make a good show. The castle comprises of five courtyards, wonderful garden and English park. There is a beautiful view to the town´s surroundings from the towers.

It is possible to park your car in Náchod square. That parking place is for pay. It is better to leave the car in the town and to go on foots to the castle passing the castle stairs, that can be found on the northern part of the square, from Beránek hotel. Castle is approximately 200metres from the parking place.

Baroque chapell STAR

Hvězda (Star) is a hill in Broumov hills that is 674 metres high. There is a baroque chapell(St. Mary chapell) standing on the top of it. It was built in yeares 1732 and 1733. Also a cottage named Star from 1856 is nearby, that cottage was built in swiss style. There is a restaurand and terrace in the cottage. That place offers a nice view to the Broumov walley, Javoří and Soví hills. Parking place is some 500metres away from the cottage

Table hill Ostaš

Hill Ostaš stands between Teplice nad Metují and Police nad Metují towns. It is a typical table mountain, it is 700 metres high. Ostaš is split from another hill called Hejdy by Klučanka walley. There are many stone objects in the walley as well. The lower part of Ostaš decorates the stony object called „Cat´s scastle“ that is surrounded by another stony walls and caves. The most famous one is a Cave of bohemian brothers that served as a hiding place during a war. There is a stony labyrinth in Upper Ostaš, through which you can get to the top of the hill. And again, here a nice view awaits you.

Artillery fort Dobrošov

The fort is open daily except Mondays and you will find it on the hill towards Nový Hrádek. Fortification of that type is unique. The opportunity of seeing it should not be missed even by those who are not interested in the militaria. The fort was built in 1935-1938 for defending the boundaries against German attack and in its times it was one of the most modern fortification systems in Europe.

The fort is connected with other objects by the underground corridors. Of course, only a part of the interiors of Dobrošov fort are open for public, but anyway, it is worth seeing it. Sightseeing with a very interesting commentary goes through two smaller blockhouses and through part of the underground corridors. The sightseeing begins in the artillery blockhouse Green, from which you can get to the underground through several openings – in the underground there are even small barracks. The sightseeing terminates in Můstek blockhouse, from which there is a very nice view of the surrounding countryside.

Connectivity:

By car: From Náchod on the road towards Nový Hrádek through Lipí and Jizbice. Parking place is approximately 300m behind Dobrošov time. It is situated near the fort.

By bus: Bus Orlobus – from bus station in Náchod, takes the direction towards Nový Hrádek. The 8th bus stop is Dobrošov, the fort is 5 minutes away from the bus stop.

By foot – from the bus station in Náchod také the red tourist mark and walk to Jiráskova chata (Jirásek cottage). From that place it is possible to turn at the end of Amerika settlement to the left and directly walk towards the fort – about 3 and half kilometres of ascending.
